Lory will make sure our veterans understand the
Medicare Advantage Plans for Veterans in South Carolina.
Are there specific MA Plans designed for those with Veterans Benefits?
Yes sir, there sure are. Medicare advantage plans have 3 components; Medical coverage, Prescription Drug coverage, and Extra Benefits. Since you are entitled to Prescription Drug coverage through the VA some Medicare Advantage Plans in South Carolina are designed re-allocate those funds to the Extra Benefits category. Additionally you have $0 premium options because the government pays the Medicare Plan provider for each enrollee. This means the money being re-allocated is not premium paid by you but a subsidy paid by the government.

Examples of Extra benefits include
- Medicare Part B reduction (explained in greater detail down the page)
- Dental (including comprehensive)
- Vision (Exam as well as money for glasses, lenses, and frames)
- Hearing exams and aides
- Membership in a fitness program
- Personal Emergency Response System
- Over The Counter Health Products
What is a Medicare Part B Premium Reduction?
Every month a Medicare Part B premium is taken out of your Social Security Income check unless you have full or partial Medicaid. This amount is around $135. If your Medicare Advantage Plan has a Part B reduction the plan pays whatever amount before it comes out and then you pay what remains. For example if you had a $30 Part B premium reduction and your Medicare Part B premium is $135 the plan would pay $30 and you would then pay the $105. In other words it happens automatically, no rebates or other type of paperwork on your end- just more money in your social security check.
Thank You for your Service!!
